6000D's Presentation

  • 60 km over a marked course with control points.
  • 6000 m of vertical ascent and descent (3000m vertical ascent)
  • Altitude at the start and finish: 670 m
  • Highest point of the race: 3054 m
  • Time limit: 12 heures

We have made some minor alterations to the course (an additional 5km, the first climb and the end of the descent) to take you through all of la Plagne’s villages.
To keep as close as possible to the spirit of Trial running, there will only be 4 feeding stations (food and drinks) and 3 water points (drinks only) over the 60 km. You are strongly advised to carry a camel bag or water bottle. Running self-sufficiently is recommended.

Principal difficulties by Jeannot Germain
(president of the club VEO 2000 la Plagne)

The start: Even if the start is very fast, never panic. 60km is a very long way and all sorts of things always happen!!
From les Esserts up to the glacier you must find a steady cruising pace because it is uphill all the way (some flat or gentle downhill parts for recovery, but very few).
After the glacier the 1000m of vertical descent should be negotiated without starving the muscles of oxygen as the climb of 450m of vertical ascent that follows can be very painful.
From the Arpette all the way down to the valley the descent is generally steep with a lot more sectors with loose surfaces than in past years, particularly towards the finish.

Supporters can watch the runners from the points shown in the Road Book.
