6D Trek regulations

PLEASE NOTE: The start has been moved to Longefoy (-10km) and the time changed to 6.00 a.m.

The principal characteristics of this sporting walk are as follows:

  • Non-competitive event in teams of 4 (3 walkers + 1 logistic supporter)
  • Teams of walkers must stay together from the start to the finish of the event
  • Event limited to a maximum of 50 teams and a minimum of 25
  • Course 100 km long with 5300 metres height gain
  • Basic marking on the course
  • Course 100% mountainous, natural and at the walkers' own pace
  • PLEASE NOTE: Start Wednesday 21 July 2010 at 6.00 a.m. from Longefoy
  • Maximum time: last finish Friday 23 July at 6.00 p.m.
  • Event in complete autonomy with rest stops in the 2 camp sites along the route
  • No classification - each competitor to finish receives a certificate and a t-shirt. A draw for prizes will be made at the finish.

All walkers undertaking the 6D must be aware that:

  • The paths taken may present material dangers (very steep slopes, risk of rock falls, very narrow paths, scree runs, risk of getting lost on paths that are hard to see ...)
  • The course often exceeds an altitude of 1500 metres, and in the event of bad weather, conditions may therefore be extremely difficult
  • The only assistance available on the ground is that provided by the refuges
  • The course crosses the Vanoise National Park – every entrant must respect the 6000D charter (see the charter on the event web site)

6. Personalised certificate for finishers.A Race Headquarters will be in place by day in Aime throughout the duration of the event. It will be the sole point of contact for participants who will approach it with all problems encountered during the event. In case of necessity, it will alert the rescue services and will act as coordinator.

In case of accident:

  • Walkers should use their first aid kit
  • Should they need to see a doctor in person, they should make for the nearest village
  • In case of emergency or if they are unable to move, they must alert race Headquarters

In case of retirement, there is no means of getting walkers home. They must contact their logistic support or take public transport.

Compulsory equipment for every entrant:

  • A minimum water supply of 2 litres
  • Two torches in good working order with replacement batteries
  • Mini survival blanket (140x210cm)
  • Whistle
  • A mobile telephone (enter the organisers' security number in the memory, don't withhold your number, keep your telephone switched on and don't forget to charge the batteries before setting off). The number will be given to you at the start of the race.
  • Clothing :

* a t-shirt in breathable fabric
* two warm under-garments with long sleeves in breathable fabric
* a long sleeved fleece
* a breathable 100% waterproof jacket
* long tights
* sun glasses
* gloves
* woolly hat
* compass and altimeter
* a knife

Compulsory equipment for each team:

  • Road book (instructions and course maps) supplied by the organisers
  • A bivouac tent that can be left in the support vehicle
  • A first aid kit (details of contents will be given later)
  • A digital camera
     

Other recommended equipment (list not exhaustive):

  • A camp cooker and mess tin (per team)
  • Walking poles
  • One pair of over-trousers in breathable and 100% waterproof fabric
  • Additional changes of clothing
  • String, sun cream, Vaseline or ant-chaffing cream.

Each team will be asked to take photos at certain distinctive points as proof that all three walkers are present at these points at the same time (See Road book).

The briefing will take place in the start area before the event at about 5.45 a.m.

The organisers will be able to provide a friendly welcome on arrival in the 2 camp sites. The road book will list the entertainment activities available at the staging posts. These activities are not included in the entry.
In case of bad weather, and for safety reasons, the organisers reserve the right to halt the sporting walk in progress or to change the route.

 

ENTRIES

The cost of entry is 200 Euros per team.

It includes:

1. A 6D Trek pennant (one for each team member).
2. Road book: detailed description of the route (in French or English only; one for each team member).
3. 2 nights in a camp site (Champagny le Haut and Paisley Vallandry)
3. Telephone cover during walking hours at race Headquarters.

A medical certificate confirming no ill-effects from energetic walking must be included with each entry.

It will be possible to make changes to the team. These changes will only be permitted until 18 July 2010.
Any cancelation of an entry must be made by e-mail or post before Tuesday 20 July. No withdrawals will be accepted by telephone or fax. Refunds of 50% of entry fees will be made. After 20 July no refunds will be made.

INSURANCE

Third party liability:
The organisers will take out third party liability insurance for the duration of the event. This third party liability insurance will cover financial loss for which they, their employees or the participants are responsible.

Personal accident:
Every competitor must hold personal accident insurance covering any search and rescue charges and transport costs in France.

PLEASE NOTE: An insurance certificate will be required when the road book is issued.

Such insurance can be taken out with the insurer of the competitor's choice, and notably with the insurer Diot Montagne:

Impact Multisports is a policy especially for sporting activities.
Cover applies to all activities.
The policy is available either by the day or annually, depending on the option chosen, cover fulfils legal requirements and is worldwide.
For 2.90€ per day (49 per year), you will benefit from the following cover:

-   Search and rescue costs, including a helicopter;
-   The cost of transport home;
-   Third party liability related to sporting activities (in addition to or replacing existing personal policies);
